North Carolina 12-19-08

What a wonderful little trip we had in our old stomping ground. The drive was nice with little traffic issues, even with leaving Friday the last day of school before Christmas break it only took us about 6 hrs. Once we made it into Morehead city we headed straight to the Sawyer's. Once there it took Katelyn about 15 mins to warm up and remember Steve, but once he let her sing in the microphone and play her guitar with him everything was great! Once we left there we headed across the bridge to Atlantic Beach where we were staying. Unfortunately Katelyn fell asleep about 2 mins after we left the Sawyer's and wasn't awake to see the Condo that evening. Our good friends the McFadyen's were kind enough to let us stay at their condo while we were in town. It was really nice: 3 bedrooms, a living room and kitchen. We were about 200 ft from the ocean so when everyone got up Saturday morning we headed out to the ocean where Katelyn immediately started looking for shells and building a sandcastle. She played in the water a little, but it was kind of cold! It was a perfect day to be at the beach - didn't feel like December at all!! We spent the majority of our afternoon at the pool and just talking about how much we missed the area and how nice it would be to have a place like that to get away to for the weekend.

Saturday night Katelyn went to the Case's house to play with Ellie while the older girls babysat. She had a wonderful time. While she was there Justin and I went to the Sawyer's Christmas party. As usual they completely out did themselves. There was enough food and beverages to serve at least 100 people. We played the usual games and did the white elephant exchange. Steve's is in a band now and they played for a couple of hours- they are good too! All in all it was a wonderful evening filled with some wonderful friends and memories! We were really glad we decided to make the trip. It was well worth it and a much needed little get-away.

Sunday Morning we had breakfast with the McGrew's. Katelyn was excited to see Emmie again and we got to meet Olivia for the first time; it was so nice to get to see them before heading back home. It would have been good to stay a few more days and see a few more people but it was good to see those that we were able to see and spend time with.

The trip brought back some very good memories of good friends we have made along some of our journeys. Like always it is sad to know that we don't see them on a regular basis but like everyone else we have had the pleasure of knowing it makes it that much more special to spend time with them. Plus it gives us a reason to go back.
