Earlier in the week we swapped presents with the Abeyta's (on Monday evening), it is nice to have good friends so close to us. The Buckles came over on Tuesday and swapped presents. Katelyn had a blast playing with Erin, Jade, and Taylor. She was very excited that they came over and were able to go in the hot tub with her. Thank you all very much for your wonderful gift of friendship that you provide us with throughout the entire year, also thanks for the other gifts!
This brings us now to Christmas Eve. For Christmas Eve we decided to continue with the traditional Christmas Eve meal: taco's and also our annual tradition of going Christmas light looking, but we also incorporated a new tradition that we will probably continue for the years to come. That tradition is to open gifts from friends and family that night as well. We decided to do this so that it gave us something to look forward to and maybe hide some of the sadness about not being around friends and family. Also it works so that Katelyn is not so overwhelmed on Christmas morning! Katelyn, as well as the rest of us, received several wonderful and thoughtful presents. We cannot thank you enough for your gifts - they were generous and we all thank you very much.
It is times like this that it makes us truly remember the spirit of Christmas. It is about friends and family and the generosity of others. Although it can be easy to get caught up in the spending, and the long lines or crowed stores as well as the hectic schedules it is about seeing that smile or hearing the joy in someone's voice that makes it all worthwhile. And as we come together to celebrate let’s remember the birth of Jesus and the kindness that strangers provided. I think Katelyn says it best when she say's "it's not about presents it's about candy canes and love".
We hope that you all like your presents. We know it is not a lot but we tried our best to put a lot of thought into your gifts. Just know that they come from the heart!
