Work Updates...

Okay we are going to skip back a little bit and now get back to the work status. After Justin missed the 13th , & 14th of work for appointments he went in on the 15th to talk to his boss and let him know what was going on, where he is at, and what they (the doctors) were now looking for and thinking. Apparently they had been talking about him at work for the last couple of days (with his updates via phone) and they had devised a plan to start to reallocate his duties. When he went in on the 15th to discuss working from home they had told him that they were going to relieve him of his duties and responsibilities because they wanted him to work on getting better and not have to worry about work. To make a long story short he is on medical leave – indefinitely. They did this because they wanted to show him that they care about him and want him to just focus his energy and strength on getting better. He no longer is in charge of any enlisted assignment accounts – basically he is the special projects officer for the commander, when and if he needs Justin to do something, but right now he doesn’t want him doing anything. It is nice to know that we have their support and that they care about us as people and a family rather than just an employee. When I went to pick him up everyone there was super nice and supportive I was told several times that if I or we needed anything not to hesitate and let them know because they are and will be there for us.

With Justin not working he is a little sad and depressed, he is optimistic that it is only going to be temporary, but we all know how much the Coast Guard means to him and the fact that he no longer has a title or a job it’s really hard on him emotionally and mentally. It is a good thing he has some good friends who are willing and able to come over and/or call to keep his spirits up. The poker game he had planned for Saturday (17th) we decided to keep so that he is able to keep his morale high and also let him relax with some friends for awhile without stressing and wondering about his health. The Super Bowl party is another thing that we are looking forward to having. He invited a lot of people from work and like last year he knows it will be a good turn out and a good time had by all. It’s these little things that are so important to us: not only because it gives us an escape but also because it gives us the ability to say thanks to those around us.
